Office and Professional Employees International Union Local 2 is
devoted and dedicated to promoting, protecting and championing
the struggles of professional, technical, and office employees
throughout the United States and Canada. OPEIU Local 2 was
chartered in 1904 and represents over 6,000 employees in both
the private and public sectors, we’re one of the larger unions
of the AFL-CIO. OPEIU members win better jobs, better pay and
better benefits every day.

Our members provide vital services in the Washington-Baltimore region and advocate for prosperity and opportunity for all working families. Among the industries where over 6,000 Local 2 members work are: transportation, utilities, health care, and security. We staff the AFL-CIO, most of the International labor unions, the National Labor College, Wash DC METRO, Washington Gas Light, ADT Security, Kaiser Permanente, Maryland Mass Transit, and many other organizations.
We represent members in professions such as: attorneys, accountants, credit union loan officers, engineers, administrators, medical technicians, nurse practioners, clerical, optometrists, security techs, IT techs, pharmacists and more.
While we work for justice in the workplace, we advocate for prosperity and opportunity for all of America’s working families. We not only stand for fairness at the bargaining table — we fight for fairness at the ballot box and in the halls of government. And we've been doing it for over 100 years.
