Why a union with OPEIU?

OPEIU Local 2 is a progressive democratically run union that has been working for social and economic justice since 1904. Throughout the United States and Canada, OPEIU has nearly 150,000 members and is one of the large AFL-CIO affiliated unions.

The members of the local union elect the leaders from the membership. Local 2 members vote on important union decisions at quarterly membership meetings that are always voluntary.

Local 2 represents 6,000 members in health care, social services, insurance and office settings throughout Washington. Our members work at Washington Gas Light, Washington and Baltimore Metro, Kaiser Permanente, ADT Security Services and many more firms in the Baltimore and Washington metro areas.
