How Our Union Changed PartnersGlobal for the Better

In the fall of 2018, a handful of staff members at PartnersGlobal started discussing what a union could look like in our workplace. We had ideas about how to improve workplace processes to make for a more equitable experience for staff across the organization in terms of pay, benefits, and policies. More importantly, we knew a union could be the vehicle needed to push our organization to live up to its values—a commitment to democracy and a culture of dialogue.

Local 2 Sources PPE for Healthcare Workers in Baltimore

Local 2 1st Vice President Michael Spiller provided our Kaiser Permanente members at the South Baltimore Medical Center with 1,500 masks, 3,000 gloves and disinfectant wipes, alongside the Baltimore Metropolitan Council President Jermaine Jones and Tommy McLaughline (CSA). In Response to COVID-19 Pandemic: OPEIU Members and Families Can Complete Bachelor's Degree for Free This Summer

Enroll by May 18 and OPEIU will ensure it costs you nothing to complete your degree. Because of the current economic and health uncertainty facing many of our members, we are making it possible for all students who enroll through the OPEIU Low-Cost Degree Program at Central State University this summer to complete their degree with no out-of-pocket costs.

April 28: Honoring Workers' Memorial Day

Each spring, the labor movement takes time to remember and honor workers who have been injured or killed on the job. This year, Workers’ Memorial Day will be Tuesday, April 28, and will take on added importance as the world grapples with the devastating COVID-19 pandemic. While everyone is affected by the crisis, working people — particularly our healthcare workers and other vital service industry workers — are on the frontline.

OPEIU Extends Academic Scholarship Deadlines

OPEIU offers three different scholarships annually for members and their families. The new deadline for the John Kelly, Howard Coughlin scholarships and the Romeo Corbeil/Gilles Beauregard Summer Camp is May 31, 2020. Read more about the scholarships here.
