NACCHO Staff Overwhelmingly Move to Unionize with Local 2!

Staff at the National Association of County and City Health Officials requested voluntary recognition from NACCHO management on November 23, 2020 with an overwhelming show of support from eligible staff. Through their work, NACCHO employees strengthen the capacity and effectiveness of local health departments around the United States - their expertise ranging from healthcare equity to pandemic preparedness. 

In a letter to management, staff noted that "When employees join together, they use their power collectively to improve the workplace and society. Democratic unions are a tool to constructively manage conflict and respect the legitimate interests of employers and workers. We all believe in NACCHO and love the work we do; therefore, we see our union as being a core part of NACCHO’s successes and accomplishments. We intend to build NACCHO into an organization where staff are respected, valued, and will stay and work into the future." 

We are excited for staff at NACCHO to join our Nonprofit Employees United initiative, along with dozens of nonprofits across the United States. We look forward to management living up to its democratic values by recognizing their staff's wishes.
