Union Members Learn Queer History Through Engaging Virtual Game Night

In recognition of LGBTQIA+ History Month OPEIU Local 2 activists teamed up for the union's second annual virtual game night focused on queer and trans history.

The virtual game night, hosted by OPEIU Local 2's LGBTQIA+ and Social Justice Committees, featured engaging games that helped attendees learn more about the impact LGBTQIA+ leaders, activists, influencers and change makers have on the labor movement and popular culture. Through trivia, scattergories and other games participants were encouraged to test their knowledge and learn something new.

"I'm thrilled we were able to host our second annual virtual game night," said OPEIU Local 2 LGBTQIA+ Committee Chair Chelsea Bland. "It gives us a unique opportunity to share the pivotal role queer and trans folk have in the labor movement. It also helps to bring visibility and acknowledgement to a demographic of people who continue to make a huge impact in organized labor."

Attendees included Local 2 members, their loved ones, activists with AQUA DC, and union members from the American Federation of Government Employees and the Coalition of Labor Union Women's D.C. chapter.
